PREACH Inclusion and Prideview Group are delighted to host an evening with Lucy Fulford – journalist, filmmaker and author of The Exiled: Empire, Immigration and the Ugandan Asian Exodus.
Set in Stanmore, within the London Borough of Harrow, one of Britain's most vibrant hubs for the East African Asian community, this special event will explore the legacy of the Ugandan Asian expulsion and its enduring influence on identity, belonging, integration and entrepreneurship in modern Britain.

About Lucy Fulford
Lucy Fulford is a journalist, filmmaker and author whose work explores migration, identity, belonging and conflict. Her writing has appeared in The Guardian, The New York Times, The Sunday Times and CNN, and she has produced films for organisations including Save the Children, Comic Relief and Global Witness.
Her acclaimed book, The Exiled: Empire, Immigration and the Ugandan Asian Exodus (Hachette, 2023), blends memoir, archival research and personal testimony to uncover the story of the Ugandan Asian expulsion and its continuing relevance today. Lucy has also been recognised through fellowships including the George R.R. Martin Writing Workshop Fellowship at Northwestern University, the UN Foundation Polio Press Fellowship, and the Victoria Amelina Fellowship at INDEX: Institute for Documentation and Exchange.

Lucy will be joined by Priya Aggarwal-Shah, Founder and Director of PREACH Inclusion and Director of Communications & Events at Prideview Group.
Together, they will discuss the historical and personal stories behind The Exiled, reflecting on themes of migration, resilience, identity and community. The conversation will also create space for audience members to share their own experiences and connections to this remarkable chapter of British and East African Asian history.
