Tour of the Royal National Insitutate for Blind People (RNIB) Grimaldi Building (London)

We are pleased to have arranged an exclusive site tour of the Royal National Institute of Blind People’s (RNIB) Grimaldi Building - a best-in-practice example of inclusive and accessible design.

Located in King’s Cross, this pioneering space is more than RNIB’s headquarters - it’s a living showcase of how architecture can empower and include. The new office - which was opened by Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Edinburgh in June 2023 - was designed in consultation with blind and partially sighted people, as well as design experts to ensure the greatest accessibility possible.

What makes this building so special:

  • First UK office to fully adopt the neurodiversity standard BSI PAS 6463
  • Features include a domestic-style Living Room, adaptable lighting, and sensory-responsive design
  • Thoughtful wayfinding and colour contrast to support navigation and independence
  • Zoned acoustics and visual clarity to accommodate diverse sensory needs
